Application and Characteristics of Plastic Materials in Beer Machine Accessories
Plastic materials are widely used in beer machine accessories thanks to their core advantages including food-grade safety, chemical resistance, lightweight, easy molding, and low cost. 2. Chemical and Environmental Resistance
- Resistant to alcohol, carbon dioxide, weak acids and alkalis, cleaning and disinfecting agents; no corrosion or swelling during long-term use.
- Adaptable to normal working conditions of 0–60°C; some high-temperature resistant materials can be steam-sterilized.
3. Lightweight and Economy
- Density is only 1/6–1/8 of metals, greatly reducing overall weight and transportation costs.
- High efficiency in injection/blow molding with low mold cost, suitable for mass production, lower overall cost than metal parts.
4. Design and Processing Advantages
- Strong plasticity, can integrally form complex structures (sealing grooves, buckles, flow channels), reducing assembly steps.
- Customizable in transparent/translucent/colored forms for observation, identification and appearance needs.
5. Performance Limitations (Notes for Selection)
- Low heat resistance: most plastics <100°C, not suitable for long-term high-temperature sterilization/boiling (except silicone).
- Limited pressure resistance: HDPE/PET barrels withstand approx. 0.5–1MPa, metal reinforcement required for high-pressure applications.
- Weak aging/UV resistance: easy to become brittle after long-term outdoor use.
- Poor thermal conductivity: not suitable for direct contact with core heat exchange surfaces of cooling or heating systems.

- Direct beer contact: prioritize food-grade silicone, HDPE, PP, PET for non-toxicity and corrosion resistance.
- Sealing and elasticity: must use silicone / TPE for long-term sealing and anti-aging performance.
- Structural and load-bearing parts: choose nylon, POM, modified PP for strength and wear resistance.
- Transparent observation: select PC, PET, acrylic for transparency and shatterproof performance.
- Maintenance: avoid high-temperature boiling, strong acids and alkalis, and UV exposure for plastic parts to extend service life.
