• Core Function: Locks the connecting rod with a 90° rotation for panel fastening and disassembly.
• Main Materials:
   
  Zinc alloy (Zamak 3/5, ASTM B86) – most widely used, good fluidity, high precision, rust resistance;
   
  Aluminum alloy; Cold-rolled steel (ASTM International).

  φ10mm, φ12mm, φ15mm (general), φ18mm, φ25mm (heavy-duty);
   
  Height: 8–12mm.
• Structures:
   
  Solid / hollow; flat bottom / curved bottom; threaded / non-threaded; with decorative cap / without cap.

1.2 Connecting Rod (Screw / Quick-fit Rod)

• Core Function: Connects two panels and transfers tension.
• Main Types:
  • Self-tapping rod: Directly screwed into panels without inserts (for MDF).
  • Machine threaded rod: Used with inserts (for particleboard / MDF).
  • Quick-fit rod: Four-lobe / barb head, snaps into cam for faster installation.
   
• Main Materials:
   
  Cold-rolled steel (Grade 8.8), iron with plastic coating, stainless steel;
   
  Surface: Zinc-plated, nickel-plated, blue-white zinc.
• Common Sizes:
   
  Diameter 3.0–3.5mm, length 32mm/34mm/40mm (for 16–18mm thick panels).

1.3 Pre-inserted Nut (Dowels / Insert Nut / Expansion Nut)

• Core Function: Embedded in panels, protects holes, fixes connecting rod, prevents cracking.
• Main Types:
  • Plastic inserts: Nylon / PP / PE, four-split / expansion type, low cost, wide compatibility.
  • Metal inserts: Zinc alloy / iron, high strength, for heavy-duty furniture.
   
• Common Sizes:
   
  Outer diameter 8mm/10mm, length 12–15mm.

2. Main International Manufacturing Processes

2.1 Cam: Zinc Alloy Hot-chamber Die-casting (International Standard)

1. Raw Material: Zamak 3/5 ingot (ASTM B86), melted at 420–450°C, degassed and deslagged.
2. Mold & Die-casting:
    
   Precision H13 steel mold, cavity polished to Ra0.8μm, service life ≥500,000 shots.
    
   100–200T hot-chamber die-casting machine: injection pressure 80–120MPa, speed 40–50m/s, filling time 0.01–0.04s, holding pressure 2–3s, cycle ≤5s.
3. Post-treatment:
    
   Deburring, threading (M4/M5, die-cast integrated or secondary tapped).
    
   Surface finish: Nickel plating, zinc plating, electrophoretic coating; neutral salt spray ≥48–96h.
4. Inspection: Dimension (±0.05mm), tension, salt spray, appearance (full / sampling).

2.2 Connecting Rod: Multi-station Cold Heading + Thread Rolling + Plastic Coating

1. Cold heading:
    
   Wire (Φ3.0–3.5mm, Grade 8.8 steel) straightened and cut.
    
   4–6 station cold header, one-step head forming; efficiency ≥120 pcs/min.
2. Thread rolling: M4/M5 thread, precision 6G, full profile without damage.
3. Surface treatment: Zinc / nickel / blue-white zinc plating; salt spray ≥24–72h.
4. Plastic coating (optional): PP / nylon coated head for anti-loosening, noise reduction, panel protection.
5. Inspection: Dimension, tension, thread gauge, salt spray test.

2.3 Pre-inserted Nut: Injection Molding / Die-casting

• Plastic Inserts:
   
  Nylon 66 / PP raw material, dried;
   
  Horizontal injection machine, 32–64 cavities, cycle 15–25s, automatic ejection;
   
  Degating, dimension and toughness inspection.
• Metal Inserts:
   
  Zinc alloy die-casting (same as cam) or steel tube cold heading, threading, plating.
