- 2205 Duplex Steel: Yield strength twice that of austenitic stainless steel, resistant to stress corrosion and wear, cost-effective.
- Special Alloys: Titanium alloy, Hastelloy, etc., for harsh conditions of strong corrosion, high temperature and high pressure.
2.2 Structural and Processing Advantages
- Hexagonal Section: Higher torsional stiffness (≈20% higher than round bars), suitable for high-torque transmission, easy for clamping and assembly.
- Precision CNC Machining: Dimensional tolerance up to ±0.01–0.05mm, cylindricity ≤ 0.005mm, surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8μm, ensuring small fitting clearance and stable operation.
- Custom Non-standard Structures: Available with oil grooves, stepped shafts, hexagon sockets, anti-dropping holes (for cotter pins/circlips) to meet various connection and positioning requirements.
2.3 Process and Performance Enhancement
- Heat Treatment: Solution treatment / quenching and tempering to improve strength and toughness, avoiding hydrogen embrittlement.
- Surface Treatment: Passivation / electropolishing for improved corrosion resistance; hard chrome plating (HV900) for enhanced wear resistance in frequent friction conditions.
3. Selection and Practical Guidelines
- Select materials based on working conditions: 304 for weak corrosion; 316L / duplex steel for high-chlorine / severe corrosion; special alloys for high temperature and pressure.
- Match load and precision: Determine diameter and tolerance (transition / interference fit) according to torque and extrusion load; H7/h8 fit for precision transmission.
- Control surface quality: Ra ≤ 0.8μm to reduce wear and jamming; electropolishing required for food / pharmaceutical grade to comply with FDA / GB 4806.9.
- Anti-dropping and sealing: Equip with cotter pin holes / circlip grooves and dust covers to prevent medium intrusion and loosening.
- Inspection and certification: Dimensional inspection via CMM, surface roughness measurement; compliance with ISO / GB / ASTM standards and material certification preferred.
