  2. Food/Pharmaceutical/Drinking Water : 304/316L | Food-grade, resists food acid-alkali corrosion, no precipitation after welding; 304L for welded parts
  3. Marine/High-Chloride (Seawater/Pool/Coastal) : 316L | Resists chloride pitting, main industrial grade for chloride environments; 2205 for high-load scenarios

Key Points to Avoid Selection Mistakes

  1. Prioritize low-carbon grades with L for welded parts to prevent intergranular corrosion;
  2. Magnetism is not a criterion for authenticity: Austenitic steel is slightly magnetic after cold working, ferritic/martensitic steel is strongly magnetic;
  3. Smoother surface = better corrosion resistance: Polished/Brushed > Pickled > Hot-rolled; smooth surface preferred for high-chloride scenarios;
  4. Cost control: Use 304 instead of 316, 430 instead of 304 for non-extreme scenarios; select grades on demand, no blind over-specification;
  5. Food/pharmaceutical industry grades must comply with food contact standards such as GB 4806.9/FDA.
