Key Points for Material Selection of Connectors in Fasteners

1. Electrical & Thermal Conductivity

• Preferred materials: copper, brass, pure copper, aluminum, copper alloys
• Stainless steel and carbon steel have poor conductivity, only suitable for structural fastening, not for conductive connections.

2. Mechanical Strength & Fastening Performance

• High load & vibration environments: high-strength brass, bronze, tinned copper, stainless steel (structural use only)
• Thin-walled / fragile parts: avoid overly hard materials to prevent cracking or expansion damage.

3. Corrosion Resistance & Environmental Adaptability

• Humid / salt spray / outdoor environments: must be tinned, nickel-plated, gold-plated, or silver-plated
• Seawater / chemical environments: prioritize copper-nickel alloy, high-corrosion-resistant brass
• Avoid direct contact between dissimilar metals to prevent galvanic corrosion.

4. Contact Resistance & Oxidation Resistance

• Higher current requires lower contact resistance
• Recommended: gold plating, silver plating, tin plating to prevent overheating and failure caused by oxidation.

5. Machinability & Assembly Performance

• Frequent cold pressing, riveting, bending: select brass or pure copper with good plasticity
• Frequent turning, milling: select free-cutting brass.
